Healthy Christmas Jam Recipe
This Healthy Christmas Jam is a festive, naturally sweetened spread made with fresh berries, warm spices, and a hint of citrus. Perfect for the holiday season, it’s free from refined sugars and packed with fruity goodness. Spread it on toast, add it to yogurt, or even use it as a holiday gift idea!
Ingredients:
- 2 cups fresh or frozen cranberries
- 1 cup fresh or frozen raspberries
- 1/4 cup pure maple syrup (or to taste)
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground ginger
- 1/4 tsp ground cloves
- Zest of 1 orange
- 1 tbsp fresh orange juice
- 1 tbsp chia seeds (for thickening)
Instructions:
- Combine Ingredients: In a medium saucepan, combine the cranberries, raspberries, maple syrup, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, orange zest, and orange juice. Stir well.
- Cook the Jam: Place the saucepan over medium heat. Bring the mixture to a simmer, cooking for about 10-15 minutes, or until the berries break down and the mixture thickens. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
- Add Chia Seeds: Once the jam has reached a thick, jam-like consistency, remove it from the heat and stir in the chia seeds. Let the jam sit for 5-10 minutes as the chia seeds absorb liquid and further thicken the jam.
- Cool and Store: Transfer the jam to a clean jar, let it cool, and store in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
